Introducing the Cogs

Earlier this year Warrington Revolution split up into two teams to compete in the Outlaw Flag League one being Warrington Revolution and one being Warrington Revolution Cogs. As we had a relatively large squad at the time it was a way to introduce the new rookies to the game of flag football as well as giving some of the experienced players game time as well as giving them a go at trying out different positions. The Cogs went on to make the OFL Championship Playoff Bracket winning 7 of the 9 games at OFL.

A second team has always been the plan for the Revs as it’s a great way to develop new players as well as getting those that can’t make Revs game days a game or two with the second team. Recruitment has been a priority for us this year and with us already having 20+ players signed up for next season.

For the upcoming BAFA season we’ll be sending both the Revs and the Cogs, Revs will be playing in the premier division whilst Cogs will be playing in the lower division. This year the teams will be picked by our new head coach; the decision will be based on performance at training and the players performance from last season at both BAFA and OFL games.

Here's what General Manager Lewis Jaundrell has to say about the Cogs and the future of Warrington Revolution...

"Following the successful promotion season at the club last year we've taken the decision to build on this momentum for 2019.
For the new season we have decided to launch a second adult flag team to compete in the national league this year. The reason behind this was simple, to allow players to gain experience at varying levels and more importantly to allow more people locally to be involved in the game.

Targets for the coming year have been set with the Revs aiming for a spot in the playoffs, this won't be easy and as some might say ambitious but we believe the team have the ability to compete at this level and look forward to the season. The Cogs are entering a much stronger division one with teams such as Wigan and Rotherham improving drastically as well as Leeds now appearing in the same tier albeit a different conference.

The teams are looking forward to the new year and achieving the goals set."
